Hire A YLJC Combo!

This is a WIN-WIN!

Performing live teaches teamwork, responsibility, professionalism, tollerrance, confidence, communication, and much more. YLJC is as much about real-life performance experiences as we are about teaching in the classroom. Performing at your event helps teach our students these practical and priceless life skills.

Please fill out the form and we’ll get back to you to discuss details.

Why It’s Important!

Beyond formal education and in the tradition of jazz, our founder and artistic director Gilbert Castellanos learned his craft by performing live – “each performance helped me to improve and gave me confidence far beyond just playing my trumpet.” It is with this spirit that YLJC encourages and finds opportunities for its students to perform as much as possible.

What You Get!

YLJC ensembles perform often, and many students have become seasoned pros! Ensembles have played or opened for The Young Lions Series at Panama 66, Jazz @ The Jacobs, Bayside Summer Nights, Adams Ave. Street Fair, Green Flash Series, Bird Park Summer Concerts, and many private events! Many of our students have been nationally-recognized including Young Arts winners, Monterey Jazz Festival’s Next Gen Soloist awards, Downbeat Soloist and Combo awards, and Essentially Ellington Soloist awards. If you’re looking to support jazz education, please consider hiring a YLJC Combo!

100% Of The Performance Fee Go Directly Back To YLJC’s Programs!!

Donate An Instrument

Give your old instruments a new home! Donated instruments are given to students who need them the most. Instruments that are not in high need will be sold. 100% of all funds collected will go directly to YLJC.

Please fill out the form and we’ll get back to you to discuss details.

Your gift may qualify as a charitable deduction for federal income tax purposes. You should consult with your tax adviser or the IRS to determine whether a contribution is deductible. We will provide you with an in-kind donation tax receipt based on the estimated value of the instrument.

  • We prefer instruments in playable condition as we do not have a repair shop. If minor work is needed, just let us know, and we’ll determine whether we can accommodate your donation.

  • Donated instruments can be dropped off at our rehearsal space. If you are unable to drop off, we’ll do our best to make arrangements for a volunteer to pick up your instrument.

  • Unfortunately we cannot accept upright pianos or organs.
