About Jacobs Jazz Orchestra
Who Is Eligible
Members of the Jacob Jazz Orchestra are invited to participate by YLJC's artistic director, Gilbert Castellanos. We typically annonce placements mid October.
What’s Included?
Class Schedule: Jacob Jazz Orchestra rehearses weekly on Monday evenings. Reheasals should start mid October.* You can view the class calendar here.
*Rehearsals will begin after YLJC ensemble classes start to allow time for Mr. Castellanos to invite students to the program.
Curriculum: Jacob Jazz Orchestra members are expected to practice their assignments at home and be ready to perform in class. Assignments range from learning new music, practicing their parts, transcribing solos, composing tunes, etc.
Performance Opportunities: Jacob Jazz Orchestra will have an opportunity to play in at least one Wednesday-evening concert at The Young Lions Series at Panama 66. In addition, we hope to travel to compititions in the near furture.
