Julian Esparza

Julian Esparza is a young aspiring bassist and composer from San Diego, California. He attended the San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts for highschool where he discovered he wanted to have a career in the music industry. He went on to graduate from the one of the most prestigious schools for music on the west coast, the San Francisco Conservatory of Music where he studied in the innovative Roots, Jazz and American Music Program. His private instructors were Scott Pingel, Principal of the San Francisco Symphony, and Matt Brewer, a high demand New York City bassist and member of the SFJAZZ Collective.
Julian has played and recorded with many prominent musicians such as Matt Wilson, Gilbert Castellanos, Steve Davis, Jerry Bergonzi, Doug Webb, Joshua Redman and Akira Tana. In addition to his performing career, Julian is an aspiring composer. He was selected to participate in the exclusive Ravinia Steans Music Institute's program for Jazz where under the tutelage of Billy Childs, Rufus Reid and Steve Wilson, he premiered a new composition at the Ravinia Festival. Julian currently resides in San Diego, California where he is one of the top call bassists.
